Happy NFC East 4th of July!

There will be no journalizin’ today. I’ll be taking the advice of one Donovan J. McNabb:

But before I load up on ribs, I should note that the NFC East is very American. The Cowboys self-proclaimed themselves “America’s Team,” the Eagle is the national bird and appears on the presidential seal, and the Giants’ uniform colors are red, white and blue.

But the most American of them all is the Redskins, who should be praised for their efforts to honor Native Americans. This is your day, Dan Snyder. Kick back with a beer and enjoy the day, knowing that you are truly a great, great man.

Technically it was NFL films that named the Cowboys “America’s Team”

And don’t forget the Giants! The only one of the three teams that has Red, White, and Blue in their logo and uniform.

  3. very useful information. I will look forward to find out more.

Don’t worry, Jimmy. in another 30 year’s Texas will be a majority Hispanic population, who have few fond memories of the cowboys. They will eventually.be pressured to change what really is an offensive, blood stained name to something more sensitive. Maybe the Dallas Horizons.

In fact, the government may be pressured to change the mascot of the (un)lovable losers to something more fitting of the product on the field. Say hello to the Philly Pidgoens.

I love this angle, but the one mistake is assuming it’s the downtrodden who care about the name. No, it’s just the college educated mostly white people. Don’t worry, as soon as they’re done with Snyder they’ll want a new victi–err, crusade of righteousness.

      1. Dan in Philly says:

Actually Snider is being a fool by not embracing change. He’s going to lose anyway, and by going with the flow he will be hailed by the elites, and imaging the revenue from the new brand!!!!
I favor tapping the current pop culture obsession and going with the Washington Zombies.

  5. Bob says:

The Cowboys didn’t proclaim themselves America’s team – NFL films did.

    1. NYG_Slater says:

Ya, they called them that about 35 years ago…….back when they were relevant. Cowboy fans just cling to it, refusing to acknowledge that time has long since past.

      1. Bob says:

More to do with the number of fans than the quality of the team.
