Eagles fire head coach Andy Reid

I’ll have more at some point of course, but here is the news via the Eagles’ website.

Jeffrey Lurie’s statement:

“Andy Reid won the most games of any head coach in Eagles’ history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come.  But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Andy leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future.”

Lurie will hold a press conference at PhiladephiaEagles.com at noon.

Hats off to you Andy. You did a great job in Philly. I’m sure you’ll turn around another program somewhere else.

Now I’m reminded of that wonderful time in early 2011 when we were all speculating about who the Eagles would hire for defensive coordinator…..

….and then I read that headline “Eagles hire Castillo as DC” and I thought to myself, “There’s another guy named Castillo in the NFL!? Is he related to Juan?”….

    ….hopefully this time ends better….

Tommorow’s headline: In a surprise move, Jeffery Lurie has hired Juan Castillo to run the Eagles organization. Lurie cited Juan Castillo’s tireless work ethic and football oriented family dinners as the main factors behind the move.
