Last week, we broke down the Redskins’ 10 yard slant, which has been a staple of their offense all season. We noted that the Skins might try take that slant to the next natural progression by trying to hit on a big play by running a “slant and go” (or “sluggo”) route. They did in fact run the sluggo, and it worked to the tune of a 61 yard TD pass to Santana Moss.
However, the Eagles, or more notably, Kurt Coleman, was not fooled. Here’s Moss beginning his route from the slot:
