Video: ESPN thinks that the Redskins have a QB controversy on their hands with RG3 and Kirk Cousins

The Redskins drafting Kirk Cousins makes perfectly reasonable sense to me.  The ESPN panel of Herm Edwards, Ron Jaworski, Tedy Bruschi, and Suzy Kolber, however, are flabbergasted by this shocking development, and think that the Redskins now have a QB controversy on their hands.  This is honestly some of the dumbest analysis I’ve ever heard, an I don’t say that with even a hint of hyperbole:

    1. I have been a passionate Redskin fan since I was 7 y.o.; I bleed red and gold blood
when they lose(to emphasize my passion). This has been going on since Jack Kent
Cooke died. I am 72 years old, so you can see it has been a lot of pain for a very long time.Cooke hired coach Gibbs. He was a passionate person also. Anyhow I think another
owner should take over the team. About this 2012 draft, It is too early to tell what’s going
to happen. We’ll see. I know this will go to the delete file. Anyway this is a person who is
      true Redskin’s Fan.
      Good Luck,
      Terry Hannam

I don’t think its reasonable to have 2 rookie QBs on your depth chart. Although it could work, I think its better to have 2 veterans to mentor RG3. But the notion of a “controversy” between RG3 and Cousins is absolutely ridiculous.

Uh oh… with the final pick of 2012 NFL draft, the Colts picked Chandler Harnish… This must mean QB controversy!

  13. A Fine Messi says:

Yeah, dumb move. who’s ever heard of taking the best available player instead of reaching for a need.

    1. NYG_slater says:

picking a backup QB to groom and trade in 3-5 yrs is a luxury the redskins don’t have. They’ve finished dead last in the nfc east for the past 4 years. Its like picking a punter in the third. I dont care what they have him ranked. They could have cousins ranked as a 1st rounder, but it doesn’t help them. That pick could of helped their team this year. Instead, they drafted an expensive clipboard holder.

  14. NYG_slater says:

yea wtf? this isnt a QB controversy….RG3+Cousins ≠ sanchez+tebow…..Tho its still a dumb move by washington. Does shanahan think he’s safe for the next 3-5 years to develop and trade away cousins? Could have used that pick better.

  15. Mike says:

I think the “assumption” is that…what if RGIII plays this preseason and the first team doesn’t light it up…then Cousins comes in and absolutely tears it up. I guess that’s what they were saying?

I dunno. ESPN gets their rocks off through sensationalizing anything and everything.

  16. Tracer Bullet says:

I don’t like the pick because Washington has more pressing needs and I don’t think Cousins will be very good, but the idea that Cousins is some kind of challenge to RGIII is utterly laughable.
