3 years ago, Pete Prisco gave a resounding thumbs up to the Eagles for signing Stacy Andrews and letting Brian Dawkins walk

Just happened to stumble upon this:

Thumbs up: To the Philadelphia Eagles. They added a power right tackle in Stacy Andrews, traded away disgruntled corner Lito Sheppard for a fifth-round pick next year and a conditional 2010 pick (Ed note: the Eagles never got this pick), then stood tall as Brian Dawkins, one of their aging leaders, signed with Denver. This is an organization that gets it.

Awesome.

Do you think, right now, the two best safeties in the NFC East are with the Giants?

    1. Best pair of safeties? Yeah, maybe. But two best safeties? No. Phillips is probably the best safety in the division, but Rolle had a pretty dreadful season, despite the ring. I’d take Sensi and Nate Allen over him in a heartbeat.

Rolle had a pretty dreadful season playing out of position. The guy hasn’t lived up to his contract, but I don’t think he’s been THAT bad considering the circumstances.

Sometimes, hindsight can be such an a-hole.

    1. Yes it can. However, I’m not so sure most people would have agreed with him even back then.

      1. Brian says:

Speak for your self. I think many people acknowledged Dawkins’ asking price was far too high. Also, I don’t think anyone had a problem with Lito being traded since we still had Sheldon and Asante.

As far as Stacy goes, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen how bad his knee was.

        1. Never a good sign when you’re introducing your new $39 million acquisition and he’s up at the podium on crutches.

          1. Brian says:

            …you mean $5.5 million acquisition.
