RG3’s extremely impressive YPA

In 2011, Robert Griffin III had the highest YPA in a single season since 2004 (ESPN’s NCAA stats only go back to 2004), with the next closest QB being almost a half yard away.  And it’s not like he did it in a cheap way, as he threw 402 passes, the 3rd highest total on the list below:

Rank Player Year School Attempts Yards YPA
1 Robert Griffin III 2011 Baylor 402 4293 10.68

Impressive that Cam is on this list, but it’s distressing that Rudy Carpenter is.

  13. Shaun says:

This list really says more of the offenses the teams ran rather than the qb who ran them. Alot of sucky qbs on this list (lefors, carpenter, brennan) and some qbs that may turn out to be good (RG3, bradford, newton) Most of these teams ran spread offenses, save for wilson and campbell who were in run dominate offenses which allowed them to have high ypa cuz defenses loaded up for the run

  14. ATLeagle says:

What is Sam Bradford doing on a list like this. Doesnt he have the lowest YPA the last few years?

    1. Euler.is.a.pimp says:

He’s also throwing to Eagles practice squad cast-offs.

  15. Tracer Bullet says:

That said, I won’t be at all upset if the Eagles snag Wilson.

    1. I have no idea how college QB ratings are calculated, but Wilson’s was the highest since 2004.
