Whew! (wipes sweat from forehead)… No Manning to the Niners

And better yet, they pissed off their current QB enough that he might not return. A major NFC contender has been significantly weakened… Then again, Alex Smith could be the next in line of players to pass the Dolphins over. Whatever. Manning won’t be a Niner, and that’s the most important thing. I think this is a rare occasion where all 4 NFC East teams can celebrate. We do the dance of joy!

Can’t underestimate Elway. Players like playing for players. Not surprising that aging QB looking to run his own offense finds it appealing to work for aging QB who always wanted to run his own offense. Also perhaps can’t underestimate that old school QB GM not entirely thrilled with current QB who can’t throw, but who is too popular to just ditch. Have to find someone even more exciting to be able to get out from under Tebow-mania.

Even if Alex smith goes back, there is no guarantee that he won’t revert to the old Alex that we all loved and ridiculed.

can’t believe he picked denver. of all of the teams that were chasing manning, i see denver as having the weakest core. i don’t think that there will be a strong market for alex smith and i don’t see him as being hard to replace so i don’t see it as a big deal for san fran

I wish he had gone to KC. They are much better than the Broncos in so many ways.

They still have a boatload of money tied up with Matt Cassel. No way they’ll be able to pay for both of them.
