I think the biggest news of the above is Robinson visiting the Jaguars. Robinson was an extremely pleasant surprise for the Cowboys last season, and it could be argued that he was their best receiver in 2011.
A little comparison between Laurent Robinson, Jason Witten, and Dez Bryant:
Cowboy Snaps Rec Yards TD Jason Witten 1074 79 942 5 Dez Bryant 791 63 928 9 Laurent Robinson 599 54 858 11
If you project Robinson’s numbers with the same number of snaps as Dez, it comes out to 71 catches for 1133 yards and 15 TDs.
If you project Robinson’s numbers with the same number of snaps as Jason Witten, it comes out to 97 catches, 1538 yards, and 20 TDs.
With Witten, Austin, and Bryant on the field, Robinson sees more favorable matchups, not to mention, we’re talking about a pretty small sample size here… but those are still some impressive numbers.
Dallas definitely does not want to lose Robinson, but it appears they just might.
On the Orton front, that’s an indication to me that the Cowboys don’t think Stephen McGee is a legitimate #2 QB.
Winston is newsworthy because he had been loosely tied to the Skins, and I personally feel he’d be a great fit in DC.
