Ahmad Brooks signed a 6 year year, $44.5 million deal today to stay in San Francisco, although only $17.5 million is guaranteed, per Niners beat writer Cam Inman:
To be determined how the $44.5 million and $17.5 guaranteed is spread out over the course of the deal. Brooks largely played on the left side as an OLB in the Niners’ 3-4 defense, much like Anthony Spencer did with Dallas. Here are their numbers for 2011. Personally, I’ll take Spencer’s over Brooks’, by a slight margin:
|Ahmad Brooks||1123 (18 games)||55||8||1||0||10||40|
|Anthony Spencer||939 (16 games)||66||6||4||0||9||35|
It looks like a good deal for Brooks, considering his career production. I would guess the Spencer camp likes what they see there. The franchise tag plot thickens.
