First, a quick note: Tons of articles out there about Belichick wanting his defense to take away Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz, and make Mario Manningham and Bear Pascoe beat them. They mostly paint Belichick as an idiot. I think that’s totally unfair. If I were Belichick, I’d be looking to take away Nicks and Cruz in that spot too, as would anyone with half a clue of what the Giants offense was in 2011. And frankly, the coverage on Manningham was actually quite good. Eli threw a perfect ball. Manningham obviously made an incredible catch. Sometimes, when you take away Michael Jordan, you get beat by John Paxson. That’s just sports:
Poaching the champs.
Crap. Longer drive for me to cover them in camp this year. Last year, because of uncertainty of when the lockout would end, training camp was held at the Meadowlands. I guess the G Men aren’t superstitious.
Eagles, Cowboys, and Redskins after the jump…
Sheil’s 2nd part of a running series with the BC standout. Great stuff.
Don’t bet on it.
Gotta add “son” to end of that statement to show you’re also “street,” Todd.
Routt was drafted by the Raiders under Rob Ryan, and played for Ryan from 2005-08.
The Cowboys have company.
What if the “best player” is a QB? An OT? A RB? A WR? Are they really going to stick to that statement?
“It all comes in together,” Bradshaw continued. “If the fans don’t believe it, the team doesn’t, and [the fans] kind of doubtful with Romo.
So, if I’m understanding Ahmad’s logic correctly, the belief of the fans in the team is the biggest factor in whether said player will achieve postseason success or not.
Excellent film breakdown here.
He played nearly every snap for Oakland last year and opposing quarterbacks completed just 51 percent of their passes when throwing to Routt’s area. Routt allowed just 11 yards per receptions and defensed 10 passes.
That’s the good Routt. The bad Routt committed 17 penalties including eight for holding and seven for pass interference. The total number of penalties committed was the highest on the Raiders and the highest among NFL cornerbacks. He also allowed nine touchdown passes, the most of any cornerback.
The penalties are not a new issue. He has committed 38 in the past three seasons.
Oof. Penalties aside, Rich points out a few more reasons why he doesn’t think the Skins would be a natural fit for Routt.
