Just a few things I saw on NFL Network during media day yesterday:
– I saw Antrel Rolle had a T-shirt on that looked to be a QB with thought bubbles coming from his head that said “Where Antrel at?” Frankly, I think that’s exactly what Tom Brady will be thinking on Sunday.
– Apparently, the word has been put out that Jason Pierre-Paul is to be referred to as “The Haitian Sensation.” That’s awful. I loved Cris Collinsworth’s nickname for JPP, “The Octopus,” because he’s all arms and legs coming at you. Plus, whenever JPP is in trouble, he expels ink to hide from his predators. And he’s a popular appetizer. It’s perfect, really. Haitian Sensation, JPP? It’s too “Nigerian Nightmare” for my taste. So, no, I won’t be calling you that.
– Victor Cruz had a lot to say about Julian Edelman (via NFL Network):
Anytime you see a guy playing over you and it’s not his natural position it’s definitely a matchup you want to exploit and you want to take advantage of… hopefully that’s a matchup that I can definitely win and do some positive things against.
I’m gonna be looking (at Eli) giving him that eye if I think I’m getting the better matchup.
(If Edelman lines up against me) If it’s a pass play I better be getting the ball, and hopefully it’s not a double team so I can be able to make a move and get up field. Anytime you can see a guy that’s not comfortable, and you can see it on film.
I’d say it’s pretty clear Cruz has zero respect for Julian Edelman as a DB. Granted, he was only answering questions he was being asked, but be careful with that, Victor. More than a few people underestimated Cruz before the season began, and look what he turned out to be.
