Week 9 snap count notes – Giants and Eagles edition

Giants-Pats

Tuck and Osi are getting healthy.

– 74 snaps on offense, 78 on D.

– Last week I noted that Jake Ballard saw his snap % increase every week:

Game 1 – 48%

Game 2 – 53%

Game 3 – 66%

Game 4 – 72%

Game 5 – 73%

Game 6 – 94%

Game 7 – 99%

He’ll have to play every snap against the pats to keep that trend going.

Well, he did.

– In Ahmad Bradshaw’s absence, I  thought Danny Ware might get more snaps than Brandon Jacobs.  Nope.  Jacobs, 41.  Ware, 31.

– Da’Rel Scott got 1 snap, and his first career carry.  Got a key 1st down on 3rd down.

– The legendary Ramses Barden saw his first action of the season.  29 snaps, 2 catches.

– Justin Tuck was up to 58 snaps from his 28 the previous week.  Osi Umenyiora was up to 61 from 36.  It would appear those guys are getting healthy.  JPP got 58.

– Michael Coe got his first meaningful action since Week 2 against the Rams.  15 snaps.  He had a nice pass breakup.

Eagles-Bears

Steve Smith: 5 catches, 1 extremely costly drop that led to a pick, lots of time on the pine.

– 64 snaps on O, 74 on D.

– Another week, no snaps for Steve Smith.  2nd week in a row.  Riley Cooper got 5.  Methinks the Eagles don’t think Steve Smith is any good.

– Owen Schmitt is getting fewer and fewer snaps each week ever since Week 3:

Week 3 -19

Week 4 -12

Week 5 -12

Week 6 -10

Week 8 -6

Week 9 – 5

– 20 Eagles played on defense Monday night, the most of the season, kind of a lot to digest.

– Nate Allen got 10 snaps before getting injured.  Jaiquawn Jarrett got 63.  That was Jarrett’s first action on defense in the NFL, a little later than expected.

– A few people had noted they were seeing a lot of Casey Matthews, particularly on short yardage situations.  He only had 3 snaps.

– Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie’s reign of awfulness was on the field for 38 snaps.  Joselio Hanson got 16.  There’s absolutely zero reason DRC should be on the field in favor of Jose.

– The 1st team DL snaps were fairly symmetrical with the 2nd team’s.  First team – Babin (53), Patterson (51), Jenkins (53), Cole (54).  Second team – Graham (21), Laws (24), Landri (23), Tapp (22).  Both units completely failed in pressuring Jay Cutler.

Tuck may be getting more plays, but he still looks off/hurt. Not the same defender he normally is.

29 snaps for Barden, 2 catches (both nifty plays) and one serious misread. Color me happy!
