Sports Illustrated did a survey of 316 NFL players asking them who the fastest player in the NFL is. DeSean Jackson made the list at #2. Michael Vick was #6.
Back in the day the NFL used to do the “NFL’s Fastest Man Competition.” I remember Darrell Green being sort of the equivalent of Michael Jordan in the slam dunk contest, with some Packers WR named Phillip Epps and Raiders WR James Jett playing sort of the Dominique Wilkens role to Jordan.
The NFL recently did a lame version of it with players that made the Pro Bowl. I remember DeAngelo Hall, still with the Falcons at the time, winning it over a freaking punter (Brian Moorman of the Bills, if memory serves me right). Why even bother with that nonsense? ESPN or NFL Network needs to line up DeSean Jackson, Chris Johnson, Mike Wallace, Devin Hester, and Jacoby Ford, and just let ’em rip. Make it half-hour special, culminating in 4 seconds of awesomeness. Seriously, why are they not doing this?
Here’s Green, by the way, running a 4.2 40 at the age of 40:
