Yes, the Giants also ran a similar play to Henry Hynoski

In response to this post which showed that the Giants ran the same play twice in as many years against the Eagles with great success, many of you pointed out via twitter, email, comment section, etc., that the Giants ran the play again to Henry Hynoski later in the game.

It wasn’t quite the same, but it was very similar.  In this version, Hynoski blocks as Eli Manning first fakes a handoff to Ahmad Bradshaw, and then again to Victor Cruz on an end around.  Hynoski then releases from his block and runs up the sideline.  The difference this time?  Brian Rolle isn’t fooled and breaks up the pass (Video doesnt start until the :07 mark for some reason, so hang in there):

Of note here is that the Eagles are in their base D here, and Rolle is in the game instead of Casey Matthews in the 4th quarter.  The Eagles said today that they plan on keeping the LB rotation the same, but I suspect that they may change their tune as the week progresses, and we’ll learn that Brian Rolle is the Eagles’ new starting WLB.

On another note, this is a TD if Rolle isn’t there. Allen, the single high safety, came up to cover the cross instead of staying deep like he’s supposed to.

I think another thing to note is the fact that its friggin HENRY HYNOSKI running this pattern. Not exactly a notorious receiving threat… or even a guy 90% of NFL fans have ever heard of.

It’s like anyone will ever confuse Jacobs for Westbrook or Faulk. Physical ability isn’t the issue; Matthews can probably run with Jacobs but he didn’t recognize the play. Rolle did.

        IT’S NOT LIKE. fucking asshole

Don’t see any reason that Rolle doesn’t deserve playing time at this point.

Best play by an Eagles linebacker so far this year? I think so. Just start him. Please. For me. Bench Casey Mathews. Now. Please?
