ESPN’s Scouts Inc’s top 200 NFL players: Who made it from the NFC East?

This list is comical.  Apparently, Terence Newman and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are better football players than Michael Vick, Miles Austin, Asante Samuel, Brian Orakpo and London Fletcher. Mike Jenkins, one of the worst starters in all of football last year, makes the cut? NO COLT ANDERSON?!?!?  Aaaaaand that’s about as much time as I want to spend on this:

Rank Team Player
15 Cowboys DeMarcus Ware
16 Eagles Nnamdi Asomugha
22 Giants Justin Tuck
26 Eagles Trent Cole
29 Cowboys Jason Witten
55 Eagles Jason Peters
68 Giants Hakeem Nicks
71 Giants Kareem McKenzie
74 Eagles DeSean Jackson
78 Cowboys Jay Ratliff
82 Cowboys Terence Newman
83 Eagles Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
88 Giants Eli Manning
90 Eagles Michael Vick
91 Cowboys Tony Romo
96 Eagles Cullen Jenkins
98 Giants Chris Snee
103 Eagles LeSean McCoy
105 Cowboys Miles Austin
109 Cowboys Doug Free
116 Giants Terrell Thomas
119 Redskins Chris Cooley
121 Eagles Asante Samuel
122 Redskins Brian Orakpo
132 Giants Osi Umenyiora
138 Redskins London Fletcher
161 Giants Mathias Kiwanuka
176 Eagles Jason Babin

  3. [...] made fun of Scouts Inc’s Top 200 players a couple weeks ago, but today they came out with their Week 2 “complete advance scouting [...]

You can say whatever you want here, but the fact is that impartial observers who actually understand football made tape-based evaluations. The fact that they don’t cohere to your uninformed and Eagles-biased opinions is of little consequence. We’ve heard scouts across the league commend Jenkins and Newman, and I’ll take their assessments over yours. Is Vick a better ATHLETE? Of course. But he’s never been much of a quarterback.

Regression to the mean is a bitch…

    1. I saw Newman and Jenkins plenty last season. They were both atrocious.

Laron Landry? OJ Atogwe left off the list? hmmmm…

  6. [...] Of course, I should note that Scouts Inc. has him ranked as the 74th best CB in the NFL, so I’m not sure how that translates to him being a “quality starting cornerback.”  Then again, we’re talking about the same people that think Terence Newman is a better football player than Michael Vick. hahah

  10. Matt Chandik says:

Kareem McKenzie is ahead of DeSean Jackson, Miles Austin, the three good QBs of the division, LeSean McCoy, Brian Orakpo, etc…

    I…I’ve got nothing. Just flabbergasted.

I’d think that Shady McCoy would be higher on the list too 103, he’s much better then that. He should be at least ahead of Newman

  12. The Legend says:

Well I’m assuming the Ultimate Vick Hater KC Joyner had a vote in these rankings so that’s why Vick is probably so low. Anybody in there right mind knows that he is at least a top 20 player in this league
