Do the Eagles like Ike?

Giants DT Barry Cofield keeps open mind about 2011 options – Clifton Brown, Sporting News

The Giants drafted defensive tackle Marvin Austin of North Carolina in the second round. Linval Joseph is another young tackle on their roster. That means Cofield may not be in the Giants’ plans. If that is the case, Cofield will not be bitter after five seasons with the Giants.

2 seasons, 21 catches, 171 yards, 2 TD.  Gotta get more than that out of a 3rd round pick.

Playbook: H-Backs – Jeremy Fuchs, Giants Gab

More on Beckum.  Jeremy contends that the Giants aren’t using him the right way.

Paul Posluszny: Buyer beware – John Fennelly, giansfootballblog.com

John argues against pursuing Posluszny.  Personally, I don’t want him in the NFC East at all, as I have no interest in learning how to spell his name off the top of my head.

Tuck: “It’s personal” – Ohm, ESPN NY

Whaah.

(Cowboys, Redskins, and Eagles news after the jump)…

Free agent outlook: Cullen Jenkins – Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas

Jenkins would be a great fit, in my opinion, but I just don’t see him as a viable option.  The Cowboys are going to have to move all sorts of money around just to be able to re-sign Doug Free and their own DE’s in Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher, and while DE remains a huge need, it takes a back seat to collecting a couple safeties and OL depth.

Doug Free places 14th on Pete Prisco’s Top 50 free agent list – Pete Prisco, CBS

Is Prisco high?  Doug Free behind soon-to-be 30 year old RIGHT TACKLE Tyson Clabo?  Really?  Behind oft injured Jared Gaither?  Behind another right tackle/guard in Marshal Yanda?  Behind Michael Huff, Eric Weddle, and freaking Carlos Rogers?  Seriously?  For one, did Prisco even see Doug Free play last year?  And two, does Prisco have any idea what a 27 year old good LT with all sorts of potential is worth on the open market?  I’d have Free as high as 3, behind Nnamdi Asomugha and Charles Johnson.

Help Stephen McGee name his cat – Stephen McGee’s twitter account

His cat actually looks pretty badass.

How a former Cowboys kicker helped inspire an art house film – Scott Crisp, NBC DFW

Somebody is sending me an advance copy of the movie.  I’ll have a review up after I watch it.

Big name free agents may not be on the Cowboys agenda – OCC, Blogging the Boys

Agreed.

Redskins championship teams show merit of player organized practices during lockout – Nick Houllis, WaPost

The Skins won the Super Bowl the last two times there were work stoppages.  I don’t think they’re going to pull off the trifecta.

Brian Orakpo has a superfan – Ryan Gracia (Intern), Official Redskins Blog

Two things here: (1) The “Rak-Po” license plate looks very non-threatening with the little chirpy bird and flowers.  (2) Why are they going out of their way to make sure everyone knows that the author of this piece is an intern?  Poor kid.  If you like the post and want to put it up, put it up and just slap Ryan’s name on it sans the “intern” moniker.  It’s like you’re saying “If you don’t like this, don’t hold it against us. Our intern wrote it.  If there’s any negative feedback, be assured that we’ll take him outside and shoot him for wasting your time.”

Gano works through growing pains – Brian Tinsman, Redskins Mothership

68.6% ain’t going to get it done at this level.

Possible free agent shopping list – defense – Rich Tandler, Real Redskins

Among the players on that list, I think Stephen Tulloch is the player that makes the most sense.

Report: Eagles could target Ike Taylor in free agency – Jason Brewer, BGN (via Adam Caplan, Fox Sports)

Makes some sense.  He’s not as good as Nnamdi Asomugha or as young as Jonathan Joseph, but he’s a good, playoff-seasoned player that will come way cheaper than Asomugha or Joseph.

These Phillies just getting started – Jayson Stark, ESPN

Not football related.  Don’t care.  The Phillies are awesome.  Best team in baseball, and it’s not really even all that close.

NFL lockout puts Eagles camp at Lehigh in doubt – Walter Perez, 6abc.com

Makes sad 🙁

Could Michael Vick be the oldest Eagle in 2011? – Brian Solomon, McNabb or Kolb

I don’t think Jamaal Jackson or Sav Rocca are going anywhere, although I do agree it could be the end of the road for Juqua Parker, and Akers is clearly gone, but the overall point that the Eagles are young as hell is well received.

Still looking for Mr. Right – Tommy Lawlor, IgglesBlitz

Haha, I like how McGee’s cat looks like he’s scaring the shit out of his dog.

The Giants’ TE situation reminds me a lot of the Eagles’. Not overly impressive #1 guy (I think Celek is better than Boss and can still improve, but he’ll never flourish with Vick as the QB), and underachieving backup. Harbor is obviously still very young though.

    1. The Legend says:

I don’t think Harbor underachieved last year, he was a small school TE who was trying to learn a NFL system. Once he caught up he did good

  2. The Legend says:

Tired of hearing the Giants whine about Shady’s tweet, if they need that as motivation after losing 6 in a row to us then that’s sad & pathetic.
