DeSean’s drops, and a quick thank you

About a week ago, I refuted the nonsense that DeSean Jackson is the 104th best WR in the NFL.  This morning I pulled game film of all of DeSean’s ‘drops’ during the 2010 season over at Bleeding Green Nation, where you can decide how many drops he had.

On a side note, first of all, apologies for the lack of posts yesterday and this weekend.  I had a few long magazine articles to finish off, and I have my buddy Kevin’s wedding to attend today.  I’ll be walking the mother of the bride down the aisle.  Boom.  And then I plan on getting sloppy drunk.  Double boom. Ah, who am I kidding, I’ll already have a nice buzz going before the wedding even begins.  Anyway, once I shake off my hangover on Sunday, I should be churned out some good stuff more regularly.

I also wanted to quickly thank all of you that have been reading so far.  Apparently, something like 70 people subscribe to the RSS feed already, a number that I’m more than pleased with.  I thought for at least a little while traffic would be really weak when I launched a couple weeks ago, but it’s been great right off the bat.  I owe a lot of gratitude to the people that have gone out of their way to promote Blogging the Beast, like Jason at BGN, Kevin, Ken and Co at Hogs Haven, the legendary Tommy at IgglesBlitz, Brian at McNabb or Kolb, and Cody at Bleed-Green, and even just people linking to the site, like my German buddy OCC from Blogging the Boys, and Bob from BGN, and Maurice from Philly Barstool Sports (a new find for me, and a very entertaining blog).  Having such well-respected sites/writers endorse my new little blog here brings instant credibility, and it’s much appreciated, guys.  Thanks.

If you keep up the content, I’ll keep up the links!

I also just finished up my magazine articles today. Three articles with a combined total of 9,875 words. I think I need a break from blogging now 🙂

    1. Yeah, I’m up to about 14,000 on 4 articles. Three of them are good, but one is terrible, and I still have to fix it. I’ve put in at least 15 hours on the terrible one, but it just doesn’t seem to get any better. If it were for a blog I’d have scrapped it once I got 2 paragraphs deep, but there’s no scrapping an article for a magazine.

  2. Keep up the good work, Jimmy! Glad to help out!

So you knocked off 4 drops out of 12 — but DeSean only went from 55th in the league to 49th. Am I supposed to give him a medal for great hands now?

PFF’s methods aren’t flawless, but I’ll take them over the official stats any day of the week.

    1. No, I noted in the conclusion that 8 drops still isn’t good. Clearly, he needs to cut down on his drops.

But why can’t PFF just get it right in the first place?

Bah. Unless you nail the mother of the bride, I’m not impressed. Fortune favors the bold, Kempski.

You would have me as another RSS feed subscriber, but I am too bored at work to need any automation. The content you are producing is great and keeps me busy even though I skip most of the other teams stuff.

I am a little pissed about the professional looking banner however. The original crayon was the best.
